Network Security Part III: Passwords

Over the past few days, we've been covering network security. If you missed the first two parts of the series, you can find them here. If you want to go ahead and download the full e-book for free, click here. With all of that out of the way, let's get down to business.

Easily guessed passwords are one of the easiest ways for hackers to get into your computers. Passwords like "123456" or "password" are the first things hackers try. A strong password should be more than eight characters in length, and contain both capital letters and at least one number and symbol. It's also important that your password hint not be something that hackers can find out from your social media profiles.

Another tip: make sure your firewall and router are properly configured. If they aren't correctly set up, hackers can smash through them in a heartbeat.
